2009 Mazda RX-8 Facelift: First Picture?

A couple of weeks ago Mazda issued a press release stating that its Detroit Show stand will host the debut of the 2009 RX-8 (click here). Today, one of readers sent us a scanned shot from a Japanese car magazine featuring what seems to be the facelifed version of the RX-8. If the car in the picture does indeed show the actual facelift model, then differences include new front and rear bumpers, revised grille, headlamps and tailamps. We’ll know soon enough.

Thanks for the pic Ray!

Good grief, I hope that's an error. It looks acceptable from the rear but the front is a heavy handed disaster. I've owned 2 RX8s but, if that's the new car, I'd think very carefully before buying a 3rd. Do they make RX8 sized paper bags?

I would say there is no way in hell thats the 2009 RX-8. Thats an RX8 with a few aftermarket mods. Thats not a 'new' car at all. I highly doubt mazda would tell people a 'new' RX-8 is coming, and then show people THAT.

However it would be funny to make up an 07 RX8 to look just like that, and have it at the show to mess with people :-)
