Jag’s next generation luxury saloon has been caught by Car Online’s spy photographers near the company’s UK R&D base. Despite the fact that the XJ engineering mule looks a lot like the current model, the production version that is set for launch in 2009/2010 will get a futuristic design inspired from the XF. Underneath, the new XJ will use a modified version of the current model’s platform in order to keep development costs low. The luxury sedan will also retain the front engine – rear-wheel drive layout, but Jaguar will offer a new set of 6 and 8-cylinder gasoline units along with a V6 diesel.
