It can’t get rarer than this; in 1967 Shelby built just two Cobra SuperSnakes and just one GT500 SuperSnake. The rarest “snake” of them all has an aluminium headed 427 cubic-inch V8 engine rated at 520 HP -the same engine was used in the GT40’s that won LeMans. According to the seller, there is a 1967 movie with Carroll Shelby and his chief engineer Fred Goodell driving this particular Mustang for a Goodyear tire test where they set a record by going 500 miles at a average speed of 142 mph (228 km/h) -at one point he was reportedly clocked doing 170 mph (273 km/h).

Shelby originally indented to build 50 of these cars but at a price of $7,500 it was deemed as too expensive so only one example was built. But can that justify the $3 million USD that the seller is asking for the Shelby GT500 SuperSnake on eBay? Guess that depends on who you ask.-Continued after the jump
