In order to meet customer demand (more than 100,000 orders) and reduce the long waiting times (up to 10 months in some cases), Volkswagen is planning to double the output of its new Tiguan compact SUV that went into production this month at its Wolfsburg plant. Currently, the German carmaker is producing 220 Tiguans a day but according to plant manager Siegried Fiebig, this figure would be increased to between 400 and 450 a day to help reduce lead times for the car.
