It has only been a year since Maserati took the covers off the scrumptious GranTurismo coupe but the Italians are getting ready to unveil a new, cabriolet version. And as you can see from these scoop pictures, courtesy of an eagle-eyed reader of the Dutch site Autogespot who spotted the test mule in a private parking lot somewhere in Modena, Italy during his vacations, Maserati is working on a two-piece electric-folding hardtop for the new GranTurismo Spyder.

Maserati GranTurismo Spyder Cabriolet ConvertibleAlthough Maserati hasn’t announced anything official yet, there’s a good possibility that we might see the production version of the new GranTurismo Spyder making its way to the forthcoming Paris Auto Show in the beginning of October. If that’s the case, then expect to see the Spyder in Maserati dealerships by early 2009.
