Japanese Honda Accord Receives the Mugen Treatment

|
Mugen Honda Accord Sedan and Tourer It's only been a day since Honda launched the new Accord in Japan but that was more than enough time for Mugen to release details on its new sport package for both the sedan and Tourer (station-wagon) wagon variants of the car. The Japanese tuning company that was started by the son of Honda founder, Soichiro Honda, offers all sorts of cosmetic enhancements that can be bought as a kit or 'a la carte'. On the outside, there's a full bodykit that includes front and rear under spoilers, 'aero' bumpers, side sills, a TSX-like bunny-tooth grill and a huge rear wing to prevent the Accord from... taking off.

Mugen Honda Accord Sedan and Tourer Buyers can also choose from four different alloy wheel designs that are available in two sizes, 18- and 19-inches. Under-the-hood upgrades concern a sport suspension, high-performance brake pads and rotors, and a sport exhaust system.

In Japan, the new Accord (essentially the same car as the North American market Acura TSX), is offered exclusively with a 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine with power channeled to the front wheels through a 5-speed automatic transmission.

why

excellent question? Nearly all vehicles don't deserve to be riced. Every time I see a vehicle with a huge wing, especially a sedan that has no use for its functional part of it, I just want to pick it up by it's wing and chuck it.

Besides, adding all those extras is going to add on weight to a vehicle that isn't exactly sporty or fast to begin with.

@ Rick w.
If you would know Mugen, you would know that this company purely adds the accessoiries if they ARE functional and definitely JDM, not rice. They are known for their racing history and tuning capability. This includes aerodynamics. I would also just buy a rear lip instead of a wing, but nevertheless it is better than all the other crap that is out there.

Em, Rick W. A Mugen-modded Honda will receive, besides the weight you're talking about, much more power... An SI is usually 197HP while a Mugen SI pumps 220 horses

The wings you find in mugen-modded civics and ralliart-moded lancers contribute to Aerodynamics, the reverse of what you say is "dysfunctional"; an Mugen is to Honda what Ralliart is to Mitsubishi

Sorry but both the Mugen Si and this Accord have no need for that size wing. Look at the NISMO 370Z on this site, not even that car has a wing that size!
