2010 BMW X6M CARSCOOPUPDATE: CLICK HERE FOR OFFICIAL DETAILS & 73 HIGH-RES PHOTOS

Thanks to an avid Carscoop reader, we now have the first official photographs of the all-new BMW X6M that is set to make its world premiere along with the more spacious X5M at the New York Auto Show on April 9. BMW M Division's first ever attempt on an SUV / Crossover as well as, on an all-wheel drive model, is powered by a new 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine that churns a swaggering 550HP. The same engine will also equip the X5M and from what we've been told by our inside sources, the next-generation M5 Sedan / Touring and M6 Cabriolet / Coupe cars.

2010 BMW X6M CARSCOOPWe don't have all the details yet, but the 550HP V8 should allow both the X5M and X6M to accelerate from standstill to 100km/h or 62mph well under the 5.0 second mark. Comparatively, the current X6 xDrive50i which is powered by a 4.4-liter twin turbocharged V8 with 408HP sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.4 seconds.

Other mechanical modifications should include brake and steering wheel system upgrades along with a stiffer and sportier suspension set up.

2010 BMW X6M CARSCOOPOn the outside, BMW's M division treated the X6M with a sportier bodykit that includes new bumpers, side air-vents or if you prefer, gills, five-spoke alloy wheels and a set of quad exhaust tail pipes. In the cabin, the X6M features sport seats, a new steering wheel and revised instrument panel. Stay tuned on Carscoop as we'll have more on both the X6M and its X5M counterpart.

I am not at all BMW guy, but I apreciate styling of X6, its cool and agressive, though I think this M version is a bit overstyled, opening exactly under grill is bit too much imo. Wheels could be bigger, these look too small, though the design ow wheels is gorgeous.
and interior - this is the week point of recent BMW, they all look similar across the range and M versions dont look diferent enough! I think Jags and Audis are new trend setters for interior design and quality.

Its so funny how people leave negative comments on cars like the X6M but if you throw them the keys to it they'll give you a BJ to get a ride,..,

I love BMW's, i'm a huge fan of the X6, and i love that they are finally giving the M trim to their sexy SUV's. With that said, so everyone knows i'm not a hater, I dont care for the styling on the M version of this. The wheels may be big but they look tiny, why isnt thing thing tinted, and the bumper looks like bumpers i see on civic's turned ricers driving around with chicken wire on all the fake intakes. They definitely could've done better. the twin turbo V8 looks better compared to what we're looking at now.

No, I would drive a superSUV. They're gratitus, ugly, and stupid.

Why is it that wherever there's an artical about a BMW, there's always someone to post a comment about an Audi. It's as if Audi pays people to do this. Interior design just like any other visual design is deemed good or bad by the individual.

Technically Audi tried to build BMW engine,( RS4,R8) and failed. The motor can't breath up top like a M motor can.

BMW have finally come to their senses and are using forced induction on their v8's LOL!
