The Extra-Terrestrial Vehicle or ETV -we're not even kidding, that's the car's official name- is a futuristic-looking custom build created by Mike Vetter and his Florida-based company, 'The Car Factory'. It's hard to believe it just by looking at the ETV, but underneath that sci-fi outfit you'll find a Chevrolet Aveo stripped out of its body but not its heart.
Mike, who also works on Carrera GT replica bodies for the Porsche Boxster, claims on his website that buyers can opt either for an Aveo or a Boxster donor car. Somehow though, we find it hard to believe that anyone would give up a Porsche, no matter how many thousands of time they've seen Captain Kirk and Spock fighting off intruders from other planets.
But even in the case that the Chevy Aveo is the donor car, the ETV will most likely alienate you with its 'out of this world' price. We discovered that the Florida-based company has listed a completed ETV on eBay with a 'Buy it Now' price of just... $86,000. Cool but not $86k cool.

The price is ridiculous but....I think it actually looks kind of cool hahaha. I could see it being used in a movie.
at the end of the day youre still in an aveo. hahaha. sucks for you.
$86k doesn't seem unreasonable for the amount of work that goes into making that car. Yeah its an Aveo, but this car is obviously more about out this world looks, not performance, or lack there of.
so it only costs $86k extra to make an aveo look cool
Ah, Extra-Terrestrial Vehicle would = ETV. Not EVT.
-Anon# - it was a Typo
It may be an Aveo, but at least it's better than that Chinese "Enzo".
Shame it isn't street legal. (no rear view mirrors).
I would gladly pay $86k for that, plus however more it cost to use a Boxster as the donor car. Men, the things I would do if I was a millionaire.
Looks like one would need a specail outfit just to drive it!
I wonder if we could use the Solstice GXP's engine or the Cobalt SS as a donor car. cheaper than a boster and great performance.
That slippery shape must contribute to an awesomly low coefficient of drag.
Where is the money when you need it?
Yeah it looks awesome - id go with a porsche underbody too - you'd at least want it to go and drive well..
Gentlemen, I'd like to introduce you to a little concept I call "ground clearance" :P.
Who needs ground clearance. Me thinks this thing will sprout wings and rocket boosters so it can fly.
thats what the car industry needs. cool cars like that. but if it was a little more afordable it would sell like hotcakes to people who realy loves cars.
A friend and I saw this car in Melbourne, FL this morning.. it is pretty awesome looking...
Just saw this car this evening... it raises up higher for driving (though not very high!), IS street legal, has rear view mirrors as well as cameras/video screens for backing up. Not something I would like to have, but it was fun to check out! (and sit in!)
I saw this car in Toms River NJ this afternoon too in the K Mart shopping center plaza on 37, Florida tags. Way cool looking and as I snapped a few pics there were other people stopping and looking and taking pictures with their cell phones as well. It was just parked there, apparently the owner was shopping or eating. I can imagine he get's that reaction everywhere.
You can keep the car, but send me the girls...
Now that's my kind of a car.
$20K definitely. $30K possibly? $86K No freaking way. Who would want to do it? I can get a body wrecked aveo for around $3 to $5K. The kit I will give about 15K for it. So it is reasonable to say $20K for this. Heck sell me the body and I will find my own car and put it together myself.
How do you cool it? or work on the engine???
just a new futuristic form deffo not make it worth $86,000
I just saw one of these cars!!!
My husband & I saw this ETV parked at Ruby Tuesdays. It was something awesome to see in person. Every one that saw it was taking pictures. WOW!!
I got to see one of these up close and I love it...I would have to win the lottery to afford it but heck yeah I would buy it!
What happens when you have to change a tire
