Twisted Tuning: 1969 Chevy Camaro SS Modded After the... New Camaro

|
In what could be one of the weirdest project cars we've ever shown you on Carscoop, this here is a 1969 Chevrolet Camaro SS that has been modified to resemble GM's 2006 Camaro Concept which previewed the 2010 production car. Ironically, the styling of both the concept and production versions of the new Camaros are heavily based on the 1969 model... More caricatures photos and the creator's description of the car after the jump.

Danz Custom Description of the Camaro:

"This is a 1969 Danz Camaro SS concept car. I built the car in 2006. In 2006 the new Camaro was just a concept with no definite plans to go to production. I took a real 1969 Camaro and modified it to look somewhat like the 2006 concept Camaro.

Thinking that I would have the only one in the world if the Camaro never went to production. I combined the original 69 Camaro design with the 2006 concept Camaro design, with my own designs. Especially the hood scoop and rear spoiler design are my own. I gave GM pictures of my car in Jan 2007.

It appears that the 2010 SLP Camaro has a simular designed hood scoop and rear spoiler to my car. To power my car I went with a 427 small block with the vintage dual 4-barrel crossram manifold and carbs. I went in that direction because I wanted the legendary 427 cubic inch and also to use the vintage dual 4-barrel crossram. Backed with a 700 r transmission to a Ford 9" differential. If you're interested in learning more, call 920-830-4994."

I'ts called gilding the lily, or more correctly painting the lily as was Shakespeare's original quote. Either way, don't gild.

Trust me this is far from the weirdest project car you all have shown, this is actully real hottness !

It doesn't actually look half bad to me... I think nothing could beat those weird Integras posted back then.

If the lamps were a bit more angular to keep with the design theme of the Camaro with the new kit, the grill less exaggerated, and the front air intakes (are those what u call them?) were wider, I'd call it a win.

Hopefully the "donor car" was one that was headed for the scrap heap and not a pristine
example. If the latter is true, then this would have truely been a crime!

I like the hood and side scoops and the pinched rear end is okay, but the enormous angled front ruined it for me.

Looks more like someone from Pixar animation's designed it,, too many angles, the rear is somewhat ok,, exact opposite of the front, kinda like a dream that went really bad,

Icertainl hope he didn't hack up a prestene Camaro to do this

DESIGN IS IN THE EYE OF THE BEHOLDER, THEY SAY THAT PEOPLE THAT CAN'T CREATE, CRITICIZE, IF THE DESIGN IS SO BAD THEN WHY HAS THE CAR WON AWARDS AND HAS HAD 350,000 HITS ON THE INTERNET

Anonymous said... »February 05, 2010

^'They' say that people who can't handle critisim of any sort lash out at people like toddlers...much like what you're doing seeing how you can't deal with critism of any sort with reducing yourself to the level of drooling shitting toddler.

Prove it. What awards has this abortion of a car won? Name one that you didn't pull out of your ass.

This is the most publicized camaro ever on the internet. Just type in Danz Camaro and there are hundreds of sites about this car, and in about six different languages. So it is world wide. GM advertizes heavily on every site this car is on. So for the 16 people on this site that don't like the car,oh well. Can't please every one.

That is not what you do to a classic. I hope someone buys this car and turns it back into a REAL camaro.

Anonymous said... »June 25, 2011

Sound like a bunch of old people who can't handle anything being changed. You don't like what someone did to their car, that's too bad. Their countless hours and hard work went into the car, just being plain rude with completely asinine comments. I think of it as incorporating the old engine muscle that the new Camaro's lack, with the new exterior style.

It's ok. I'm working on a 87 Camaro with an 11 front.

Mac said... »May 21, 2012

I like it. I'm doing an 87 Camaro with a 2011 front.

Mac said... »May 21, 2012

I like the front, the back? Not to sure. There some of us who don't care about original state of a classic car but to create your own.

Os unicos 2 erros do carro a grade de frente e nos faróis traseiros mais o resto do carro esta completamentelindo.

Tedderman said... »October 21, 2012

They should have based the new Camaro on the Generation 2 , it has a more European style and would have lent it's self to the updating much better than the Gen 1.
