The Dodge Viper SRT10 American Club Racer (ACR) broke the production car lap record at Miller Motorsports Park, dipping below the 2-minute mark for the first time ever at the 3.048-mile Outer Course configuration. Dodge driver Kuno Wittmer stopped the clock at 1:59.995, beating the previous record held by Jan Magnussen in a Corvette ZR1 by almost four seconds (2:03.86).

“The Viper ACR is such a blast to drive at the limit, and I can honestly say that I didn’t leave an inch out there on the track and was barely braking in the corners,” said Wittmer. The hardcore Dodge Viper SRT10 ACR has also set numerous records on other circuits including the Laguna Seca (2009, 1:33.92) and the Nordschleife (2008, 7:22.1).

Powered by an 8.4-liter V10 engine that develops 600 horsepower and 560 lb-ft (760 Nm) of torque, the street-legal Viper ACR boasts impressive performance figures covering the 0 to 60 mph (96 km/h) sprint in less than 4 seconds and the quarter-mile in the mid 11-second range. It can also accelerate from 0 to 100 mph (161 km/h) and come to a standstill in 11 seconds flat.

The car’s handling benefits from a KW four-wheel independent suspension with two-way adjustable competition coil-over shock absorbers. The Viper ACR also has an aerodynamic package that includes a carbon fiber splitter in the front and a massive adjustable carbon fiber rear wing that allows up to 1,000 lbs. (453.6 kg) of downforce at 150 mph (241 km/h).

The package is completed by lightweight wheels, StopTech brake rotors and Michelin PS Cup tyres. For the 2010 model year Dodge Viper ACR also received subtle changes that resulted in an increased top speed of 184 mph (296 km/h).
