VIDEO: Fast 5 Movie Goers Cause Automotive Mayhem Outside of Theater in Detroit

|

Fans of all kinds and sorts of the much talked about Fast 5 film went “fast and furious” at a theater parking lot in Detroit before and after a midnight release of the movie on Thursday. Steven Pham, a professional photographer and automotive enthusiast, happened to be one of those early moviegoers and filmed some of the hoonery that went on up until the boys in blue showed up to put an end to the tire-burning games.

We came in contact with Steven and here's what he told us:

"After seeing the trailers for Fast Five, there was a lot of hype in the automotive community. I'm pretty sure every car enthusiast is a fan of the series, if not, then there is something wrong with them. Sure each movie has some sort of unrealistic scene, though I think it adds to the movie in a "wtf, did that really just happen?" kind of way.

Everything that went on in the parking lot outside of the theater before and after the movie was hysterical. Cars revving it up, dozens of people doing burnouts and donuts and to the one guy that was playing the Tokyo Drift soundtrack with his subs. It was like a short film in between all of the Fast and the Furious movie series, except without girls walking around and dancing in bikinis."

So, what do you say? Watch the video and head over to the comments section below to express your thoughts.

I love the guy in the beginning "I mean it, don't touch my f**** car". Too bad we couldn't see the expression on his face :-)

Is this not a site for car buffs. Why do you post a video of activities of a mob of foul mouth inmature imbiciles.

Now watch the reaction this posting.

Anonymous said... »April 30, 2011

The photographer made a comment it was like the film except for the abscence of bikini clad girls. Even bimbos wouldn't be attracted to these imature wankers.
For you Americans a wanker is a person always playing with himself.

The only nice cars in this video were stationary, the ones participating were screeming for attention just like their drivers.

MattJ said... »April 30, 2011

These guys are tools and should be doing those types of 'cool' things in a controlled environment rather then next to about say 40 people around a huge Ford F truck and Neons bla bla bla, don't think anyone would of appreciated being run over, legs broken and being burnt by tools compensating.... I wouldn't mind few of those cars being crushed and or impounded. Fast Five was done professionally and in most instances made up using computer graphics. What a world we live in.

MattJ said... »April 30, 2011

Also, I didn't know photographers do films.... I would seriously not have something this low on a site that is highly rated around the world.

Anonymous said... »April 30, 2011

Yaka, yaka, yaka. Don't you guys have anything better to do like go charge your Leaf or something? Cars are meant to be driven and tires to be burnt.

Peace ,

Chris

Because you don't run this site, someone else does. Mess off if you don't like it and can't handle people using 'profanity'.

What you think is 'the moral highground' is vacuous posturing. The world doesn't bend to fit your clouded preceptions and expectations.

You are correct... they have the right to be a fucking idiots, and I am sure they will.

You have the right to defend them or this behavior.

Conversly we have the same rights to criticize.

If you think this is acceptable mature behaviour from thse lemmings I suggest you also need time to grow up and become a ......

I was there, it was HILARIOUS!

Yes, everyone was acting like a moron.
It was nowhere near Detroit. But in a sense, everything in south east michigan is "Detroit" to people who dont live here.

And the kid who stalled his GXP while trying to do a burnout is the biggest moron of them all.

Since when is pham a professional photographer?
He is a 17 year old that lives with mommy and daddy, which buy him camera equipment and somewhat knows how to use lightroom.... that's all.

Anonymous said... »May 01, 2011

Anonymous said... »May 01, 2011

"If GOD gave the world an enema Detroit is where he would insert the tube." you've obviously never been to new jersey.

Anonymous said... »May 01, 2011

Alright so first off this is not Detroit but one of the richer suburbs. Secondly most of the people seen in this video don't act like this normally in fact they usually criticise this kind of behavior. This movie was seen as a joke for most of the guys there and this was their way of making fun of it. When Tokyo drift came out these same people taped cardboard body kits to their cars and "drifted". But as stupid as all of this was they are still better than most of you because they all have fun with the cars and the legal races, they still get together twice a week and have a legitimate car meet and if every once and a while when a joke of a movie comes out they have some stupid immature fun so be it.

Anonymous said... »May 01, 2011

Lighten up..

Nothing wrong with having some fun.

You negative posters are probably the mid life crisis Corvette drivers who have never passed 3k RPM's in their 500H.P car..

Just because you never had any fun doesn't mean that everyone else has to live the same boring life as yourself.

Anonymous said... »May 01, 2011

i'd say pham is a professional photographer. sounds like something hodge would say.

Anonymous said... »May 01, 2011

Here in Detroit we buy cars to drive them not baby them and store them away. Also acting stupid sometimes is fun and I suggest you lighten up and try it some times

so he is a "photographer", his website is made from a decent template that you can buy anywhere online, and people on his FB are trying to make it seem like all the people that are criticizing are "hating" on steven.... in reality, try taking great photos with a SLR, not a DSLR, don't crank them up in lightroom, don't rig the contrast in every single photo.

Sorry to say this, but this kid is far from a professional, try going to school for it and actually graduate, then get some actual, good experience in the field.

Also, photograpers do not deal with film making....

Hint, in the next video venture, try less feet and people's backs, I know you are short but really?

So, word of wisdom, stick to taking crappy photos and continue going to school before you claim to be a professional photographer. It takes a bit more than a solid camera setup (doesn't matter if mommy and daddy bought it or you, in your situation, it was mommy and daddy, like you posted multiple times on your FB).

Isaac Brock said... »May 01, 2011

Nobody in Detroit thinks twice about anything, that's why it's the most depressed city in the USA.

The making of noise and smoke is just an extension of toddler's banging a wooden spoon on a metal pot, or an adolecent with a toy drum.

By the time you own a car is surely the time to have grown up and achieved some semblance of maturity.

Polyester Poontang said... »May 01, 2011

The wanabees in the video made noise, smoked their tires with lots of wheel hop and by locking the none driving wheels.
These are not 10 second cars, these are fizzling rice rockets.
I bet there was a posting in the film that said proffesional drivers in controlled situations, only morons would attempt this behavior in a crowded shopping mall parking lot.

Just looked at Pham's web site.
He seems to be an excellent photographer to say the least.
I was very suprised to see this nonsence on his website. Certainly not condusive to impressing serious clients.
My present position as media manager for a major transpotation design facility would make me very hesitant to consider his services, because the lack of consideration of safety and legal ramifications. This is not reporting on an event, but, encouraging an event.
I would have posted this on his website but I wish to remain anonymous as required by my employer.
I am sure, if he wishes, he can respond on this blog.

"Since when is pham a professional photographer? He is a 17 year old that lives with mommy and daddy, which buy him camera equipment and somewhat knows how to use lightroom.... that's all."

You are just another person somewhere on this planet. You probably don’t know me at all to make such a comment. I’m not here to brag but people know me as I have worked since middle school and continue to work to pay for everything I wanted. Yes I use lightroom, but I also use photoshop and premiere. /story

“so he is a "photographer", his website is made from a decent template that you can buy anywhere online, and people on his FB are trying to make it seem like all the people that are criticizing are "hating" on steven.... ..”

A lot of photography websites and blog have a similar template, yes. But would an amateur spend $300 for the template plus yearly hosting fee’s for both?

Welcome to 2011 the world of digital cameras with higher capacity pixel ratios, extreme iso levels, and the capability of shooting 1080p video.

I don’t actually title myself as “professional” but I am probably more dedicated in photography than you are. I don’t need to go to school for it, sure it helps but for the amount of money of schooling I could easily buy extreme professional equipment, possibly a studio, etc, or a fully loaded Audi R8. You don’t need schooling to become successful. But I’m sure it helps in other fields.

“Photographers not dealing with film making?” You must live under an internet rock. The majority of videos you see today are done with a DSLR. For example the season finale of “House” was filmed with DSLR’s.

If you think my photos are crappy you have no idea what you’re talking about. I could easily give my camera stuff to one of my non photography interested friends and they would have no idea what to do with everything. I’m guess you have a point and shoot. I obviously have the skill, talent and eye for photography. So what if I show off my camera gear on facebook or show photos of my recent work. People post photos of their cars on fb and would probably set their car as their profile photo.

“Just looked at Pham's web site. He seems to be an excellent photographer to say the least……”

We as humans continue to learn. I’m sure the photographer at the Royal Wedding is constantly learning new things. We think we know everything but we don’t. Every photographer has their own taste in equipment and “style”. My name gets around easily, but locally around the car community in Michigan; a lot of people know me or have at least seen my work/name. People should know that the majority of the people in the video are not like this. We meet a few times a week but not to do burnouts or donuts in the parking lot. Woodward would be the most popular of meets during the week. Any burnouts, donuts or excessive revving would break up the meet by local police. We would then have to move to a different spot. We are civilized people who want to hang out, talk about cars but enjoy the whole car scene in general.

If I had recorded the aftermath of Tokyo Drift, it would have been a similar story. If my work doesn’t interest you, that's fine with me. There's people that love it and hate it. But giving me an opportunity would be great, but there will always be work for me.

I'm not hating on anyone, sure I may not agree with certain things and I know people don't always agree with me either, I can take criticism just fine. But I mean really there is a lot of hate on here but people don't really understand whats behind all of this.

If you want to be a boss on the internet, post your address, full name, where you work, and a picture when you post.

Stop hatin', you were all kids once. Bashing on kids instead of building them up...seems like you all have a little growing up to do.

Jesus, anyone wanting to learn how to film stuff should watch this - it's a perfect example of everything NOT to do. Don't focus, don't edit out the long boring bits where you're holding the camera sideways while nothing happens, always miss the action, only film the really dull cars, make sure you're a LONG way from anything interesting...oh, and definitely put your name on the video so everyone can laugh at your incompetence. Unbelievable. Nice one, Steven Pham. You really need to throw away your camera, now.
