Aston Martin has unveiled its new 2012 V12 Vantage GT3 racecar. The DBRS9 replacement is powered by a modified version of the production car’s 6.0-liter V12, which has been repositioned in order to optimize weight balance. It delivers an output of 600HP and 700 Nm (516 lb-ft) of torque transferred to the rear wheels via an Xtrac 6-speed sequential gearbox.

Aston Martin’s new racing car features an aluminum and composite body that offers improved rigidity and reduced weight. Its all-new aerodynamics package, along with the shorter wheelbase and the lower engine position, offer improved handling compared to the DBRS9.

Drivability is also said to be enhanced thanks to the race-developed ABS and traction control systems.

The Vantage GT3 is eligible for many series around the globe, including the FIA GT3 championship.

Its development will begin in October and will include a rigorous 10,000 testing program in order to hone the car for the 2012 season.

Pricing will start from £ 298,000 ($498,091) with first deliveries to take place in early 2012.
