The Megane RenaultSport 250, as the hottest version of Renault’s compact hatchback is known in the UK, has received the attention of British firm RS Tuning. If the standard model’s 250-horsepower put on the road through the front wheels aren’t exciting enough for you, then maybe RS Tuning’s “Stage 2” package is the answer.

Your quest for more power will be satisfied by the 320HP and 488 Nm (360 lb-ft) delivered by the fettled 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. That’s quite an improvement compared to the 250HP and 340 Nm (248 lb-ft) of the standard Megane RS – or even the 265HP and 360 Nm (265 lb-ft) of the special edition Trophy model .

The increase in output comes courtesy of a specially developed and remapped ECU, a Forge Motorsport high-flow intercooler, a sports catalyst or a catalyst bypass pipe and a Miltek performance exhaust system.

RS Tuning has dyno-tested and verified the engine’s output, but hasn’t yet released any performance data. Bearing in mind the factory version’s 6.1 seconds time for the 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) sprint, though, performance should be significantly improved.

The Stage 2 package is readily available and it costs £2,199 (€2,507) for the cat bypass (but not MoT legal, hence track-use-only) version, and £2,499 (€2,850) for the street-legal sports catalyst equipped model.
