At the 2011 State Fair of Texas, Scion revealed two new limited production models as part of its “RS” series based on the 2012MY xB and xD, both of which will begin arriving in showrooms in October.

Starting with the xD Release Series 4.0, it is offered exclusively in a Blizzard Pearl exterior paint and comes equipped with 16-inch alloy wheels finished in a smoked platinum color.

Interior upgrades include the color-tuned trim pieces on the center console, steering wheel and door panels that are finished in the same Blizzard Pearl paint as the exterior, plus unique floor mats. In addition, the seats get an exclusive trim and white stitching.

Scion says production of the xD RS 4.0 will be limited to 800 units, with pricing (including a $730 delivery and handling fee) set at $16,980 and $17,780 when equipped with a manual and automatic transmission respectively.

Moving on the xB Release Series 9.0, the boxy hatch features a Hot Lava paint job paired with honeycomb patterned lower grille that houses the Japanese firm’s brand name, plus a system that illuminates the front and rear badges upon locking or unlocking the car.

On board, the only change is the perforated synthetic suede front and rear seat covers that feature an embossed Scion logo and Hot Lava color-tuned highlights.

The company said only 1,500 units of the xB RS 9.0 will be built, with pricing (again, including a $730 delivery and handling fee) set at $18,840 for the manual gearbox model, and $19,790 for the automatic version.

Scion added that all 2012 model year cars will come fitted ass standard with a new Pioneer audio system featuring Bluetooth hands-free, Bluetooth streaming audio and HD Radio technology.
