Hans, a German native who happens to be the president of the M Flight Club, had the chance to drive the brand-new, BMW M5 F10 powered by a 560HP twin-turbocharged V8. And like any car-nut living in Germany, he took the sports saloon to the Autobahn.
The road is the Autobahn 62 towards Trier and this particular M5 had the 250 km/h (155 mph) speed limiter removed. The driver pushed the pedal to the metal and hit 300 km/h (187 mph). However, he was a bit disappointed, as he couldn’t reach the M5’s 330 km/h (206 mph) top speed due to –ahem- traffic.
We bet that he won’t rest until he does hit the car’s actual top speed, so expect another video sooner rather than later. For the time being, you can watch the in-car 300 km/h run video after the jump.

Never could understand the concept of "top speed"? What is the point? It is so dangerous to take a car to that level.
Life begins at 170 mph, sadly most people let their lives go by without ever having truly lived.
well
mom, dad: im german!
i drive over 230km/h serval times a week. but on a 3 laned a.b. its very dangerous to drive here on a two laned a.b. more than 200km/h.
this video is reckless, the driver is an idiot, and btw: they dont speak german ;)
Why is it so noisy? Are they driving with the windows open?
Not really, life begin when you are born, it is the longest thing you do in life, don't try to run way from it
I have driven on the German Autobahn many times. It really does save time driving at around 180 km/h. 230 km/h also seems to be in reason. But driving faster than that I think is irresponsible. Another thing, Europeans are very good about passing on the left and staying on the right lane. Many American drivers are inept about how this concept increases safety and traffic flow speed. Here in California there are some really wide freeways. During off peak times I will see drivers randomly spaced across 5 lanes traveling at varying speeds causing unnecessary platooning of cars. Driving in America is irritating. Driving in Europe is a blast.
Sounds like joy riders in a rental car on the Autobahn for the first time. On hoilday boys?
Well, apart from bein dangerous, you hardly get a chance to reach those speeds, there is just too much traffic. If I felt like going fast, I took the A555, which is a 4 lane (in one direction) Autobahn between Bonn and Cologne, now it also has speed limits :(
You need to go out on an early Sunday drive. The highways tend to be wide open then.
330 km is impossible/190mph if you opt for the M Driver’s
package = 304 km
Never drive faster than your guardian angel can fly. :)
