Tanner Foust Takes 350HP Ford Focus RS500 for a Spin Around the 'Ring [Video]

|

Professional race car driver and American Top Gear host Tanner Foust was invited to Germany by Ford of Europe to try out the limited production Focus RS500 hot hatch on the famous Nordschleife circuit.

The refresh your memory, the RS500 was a special edition version of the standard Focus RS equipped with a modified 2.5-liter turbocharged inline-five delivering 350-horses to the front wheels through a six-speed manual gearbox. Ford only made 500 examples of the car available to the public and 12 units for its own use.

The video is less exciting than you would have expected, not because Foust didn't push the car –at around 1:29 into the clip, he is seen passing a Ferrari F430- but because Ford only provided a short preview.

I'll take one... when Ford produces a model with AWD that is comparable to what Subaru & Mitsubishi create,  Come on Ford, all that R&D for the WRC and no street version. It's the 21st century, holding back technology to up your profit margin is an Edifice of the 20th century, and by doing so you risk being left behind yet again.  I would think you'd be tired of that feeling by now.  Pony up or shut up, there is no room for slackers in the board rooms of car manufactures any longer.

Now we see why your WRC cars and drivers are getting beaten and embarrassed by Mini's in France, it seems some companies never learn.

I think you mean to say it's based on the Focus RS, not the ST.
