So how exactly do you stop a 10-tonne forklift on a rampage? Well, unless you’re willing to accept collateral damages, you either wait for it to run out of fuel or pray that something goes wrong and use it to your advantage.

The police at Nottinghamshire village in in the East Midlands of England were faced with such a situation back in July when Steven Regan stole a JCB forklift and went on a wrecking spree. The incident was captured on film by a police helicopter.

Luckily for the police as well as local road users and unsuspecting citizens, a flat tire forced the 34-year-old man from Leeds to bring the JCB to a halt, but not before he caused an estimated GBP15,000 ($US22,950) worth of damage.

This week, Regan was sentenced to four-and-a-half years to prison by a Nottingham Crown Court. The man also pleaded to guilty to a series of other crimes including stealing 16 (!) more vehicles this year!
