If we didn't know better [...], we'd say Honda lifted a few pages straight out of BMW's "i" Series handbook when it came to detailing its 2011 Tokyo Motor Show-bound Micro Commuter Concept car.
Take a close look and you may discover some similarities in certain key design elements (note: not the shape of the car but the details) between the Honda concept car and BMW's i3 and i8 studies such as the multi-layered surfaces and the light-blue accent hues.
Then again, that's just us. You can look at the pictures after the break and decide for yourself if we're right or not.
If you've read our previous stories on the Honda Small EV Sports Car and AC-X Plug-in Hybrid family concepts, you won't be surprised to learn that the Japanese company is keeping a lid on most details concerning the Micro Commuter.
This is all the information we get from Honda's press release:
"A micro-sized, futuristic, electric city commuter which will become a highly accessible form of mobility for more people. This vehicle will offer the joy of a new type of communications between people and mobility and an exterior that the owner can enjoy customizing more casually. The collaboration of Honda's motorcycle and automobile R&D centers made it possible to load the MOTOR COMPO two-wheel EV commuter in this vehicle."
More to come when the 42nd Tokyo Motor Show opens on November 30.

That's why I like carscoop! I see the pic, think 'that looks like that BMW electric thing' and sure enough, you said it first!
The Tokyo show is one that I have always wanted to go to, because it is always unveiling these amazing concepts, in reality though, what do we get? Corolla's, same-again Civic's, even damn Subaru promises great things and delivers same again rubbish.
This Honda looks great, but take a look at Tokyo 1989 or something, there was more vision then, beyond a fuel cell, or electric/hybrid, what the heck has happened!?
Smart car.
If you think thisis the first time Honda has shown a white concept with neon lights, then think again carscoop.
I agree that they both have similarities. But I must say Honda has earned its respect over the years. The car company is known to produce excellent products, and I believe this will turn out to be one of them.
I agree with you, Sebastian! Honda has been the largest motorcycle manufacturer in Japan since it started its production in 1955. I'm not surprised that their cars are awesome too. Not to mention their electric and alternative fuel vehicles.
