The Aftermath of Utah Man's Lamborghini Murcielago Roadster Crash [Videos]

David Dopp earned his fifteen minutes of fame (or is that shame?) after he trashed a $380,000 Lamborghini Murcielago Roadster, only six-hours after he received the keys to the Italian supercar that he had won in a Maverik "Joe Schmo to Lambo" contest.

The story has been making headlines all over the world this week, and now we have some video footage of the aftermath from KSL and CNN.

Speaking to Utah's KSL, Dopp gave his side of the story about what happened on the Saturday he crashed the car.

"We were coming up a hill, going around a corner; and as soon as we came up the hill, we either hit some black ice or loose gravel or something, and all of a sudden we just started spinning," Dopp told KSL's reporters. "We ended up in a field, and I back-ended a couple of fence posts."

As you can see in the videos below, the crash resulted in front and rear end damage, plenty of scratches and a punctured tire. David's wife, Annette, also talked to the station.

"My heart pretty much fell out," said Annette. "They said they were OK, then (came), you know, that feeling when your heart drops and you're like, 'Oh, my gosh. What do we do now?'"

The answer to that question came from David who said the Lamborghini was covered and would be taken to a Las Vegas body shop to be fixed.

The Utah resident said that he plans to sell the Murcielago Roadster.

After this, he's not gonna keep it, because the insurance wll surely surpass his monthly mortgage.
Sell that piece of Italian trash to me for 25k, I live in San Diego, no black freaking ice here, I'll take good care of it.

I guess the AWD on that Lambo isn't all it's cracked up to be.

too many 200 hp drivers with 500hp cars - black ice my ass.

That's it.  Recall a few years back when the world was in the thrall of the credit-based boom and super-cars were being demolished all over the world as people who normally wouldn't be trusted with a tricycle were suddenly lashing out on Ferraris and Lambos to impress the ego and the neighbours.

Yup. The insurance premiums will kill him. Winning the car is one thing, the cost of ownership is another.

You guys are ridiculous to act like you know everything and are better
than the rest of the world. Strap your butt in free 500hp+ supercar and
let's see how calm, cool and controlled your test rides are for your
friends. I feel horrible for the poor guy.

Sorry, but if I am ever fortunate enough to win an exotic car, I'm gonna drive it like an 80 year old in a 1978 Sedan De Ville.  I wouldn't want rock chips in it let alone accidentally skid into something.  I would also have to sell it anyway; he is quoted in other sources as saying the insurance was $7000 year and he couldn't afford the gift/prize taxes

LMAoff!!!    Hey!  How many people have the opportunity to own and crash a super car? Years down the road the kids can say ... 'grandpa owned and crashed a super car'  a Lamborghini Murcielago, no less....Priceless!!!

If he had ever played Grant Turismo 5 on the PS3 console( which he can afford)  he would have known that 500hp car annot be driven safely by normal people. Should have just given him a playstation for the prize. Sad...

That car looks good enough to drive.

GT5 and other games of that type are hardly real world experience.  If anything, they make the inexperienced(First time, new drivers), sloppy to dangerous.  It took a long while for me to cure my son of his proclivity to excessive inputs in the real world.

There are no real consequences for poor technique in the gaming world.  If gamers had to play with 'Full Damage' on all the time, the games would have never become popular.

first off it is not trash. it is a vw product. it carries AUDI  Quattro AWD paired to a Lambo v 12 640 hp it is 0 to 60 in 2 .3 seconds.  it is built in italy.  it still a 380000 dollar car with alot of dammage so it may go for under 200k but it all depends on the dammage to the frame

This guy has no idea what that repair is going to cost him.  He said 'thousands" to one of the interviewers.  It will be 10's of thousands.  He probably thinks the bumper is fiberglass instead of carbon fiber, and he bent a wheel.  A friend of mine bent a Countach rear wheel in the 80's and it was $5000 25 years ago.  He should sell the car, take his kids to disney, and save face by being a good dad, and skip the driver part.  BTW, I have rented supercars in past.  I didn't drive like idiot because I knew what the financial ramifications were...
