Porsche is continuing the development of its much-anticipated Cajun compact SUV with testing now taking place in the snow-covered areas of northern Sweden.

If you’re wondering what’s the deal with the modified body of the Audi Q5, being that the two crossover models will share their platform and key hardware including engines, steering, transmission, axles and even Audi’s Quattro four-wheel-drive system, Porsche engineers are using these early test mules to evaluate the Cajun’s riding gear.

It is rumored that Porsche will handle the development of bespoke braking, suspension and dynamic control systems to offer sportier handling characteristics to its baby SUV model.

And just like the VW Touareg, Porsche Cayenne and Audi Q7, which share a common platform and mechanical components, the Cajun will sport unique body panels and a completely different interior than the Q5.

While Audi would have probably preferred Porsche to develop only a three-door version of the Cajun, Porsche’s plans are said to include a five-door model as well.

It’s still early to know specific details about the engine range, but it is very likely that the Q5 will loan its powerplants including the turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four and 3.0-liter V6 gasoline units, as well as diesel and hybrid units, to the Cajun.
