Renault wants to make sure that the positive momentum of its low-cost Dacia brand continues with the constant addition of new models.

Following the presentations of the Duster crossover, Sandero and Sandero Stepway supermini, and the sedan, seven-seat estate, van and pickup truck versions of the Logan, the Romanian automaker revealed its latest creation in the form of the Lodgy.

Set for a world debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2012, the Lodgy is a compact people carrier that will be available as either a five- or seven-seater mdel competing in the same segment as Renault’s own Scenic and Grand Scenic models as well as Ford’s C-MAX duo, but at a lower price point.

According to Dacia, its name is derived from the word ‘lodge’ and refers to the MPV’s ability to accommodate a family and its luggage.

Dacia tells us that the Lodgy measures 4,500mm long and that its interior will offer plenty of room even for passengers sitting in the third-row seats.

No other details were released, but we expect the Lodgy to be offered with several Renault sourced petrol and diesel engines.

The Lodgy will go on sale in Europe later this year, while Dacia said that a decision on the availability of a right-hand drive model for the UK market is still to be finalized.
