No more hiding for the all-new Volvo V40 as a pair of what we believe to be the first official photos of the premium compact model made their way online today via a Polish magazine's Facebook page.
The slinky five-door hatchback is scheduled to make its first public outing at the 2012 Geneva Auto Salon at the beginning of March.
The design of Volvo's new model is a mix of styling elements seen on the S60 series, especially up front and at the rear end, with a profile that looks like a lower interpretation of the Swedish automaker's crossover models such as the XC60 and XC90.
Previously leaked information mentions that the V40 will measure 4,500 mm or about 177-inches in length, making it only 20 mm or 0.77-inches shorter than the V50 station wagon, which it will most likely replace when it arrives in the market later this year.
The possibility of Volvo developing additional body styles of the V40 including a three-door model to replace the C30 and a four-door sedan as a successor to the S40, remains open.
Many thanks to Jacek B. for the tip!

Nope!!
Yup!!:)
I'm loving what Volvo is doing now that it is no longer tied to Ford. Now if they were to also up the ante in terms of handling and performance (without sacrificing safety of course)...we might have something to talk about.
Wow, whoa, nice.
Not so similar to good old bricks.
like new KIA c'eed
You look at this and say "nope"? Really? You must be blind.
What a shame... new Volvo cars look like melted Hyundai/Kia.
Look at the wilfully boring "new" Audi A3 and then look at this. You don't have to drive a "prestige" German brand, there is another way!
100% agree with you, what's even weird is that the Golf 6, the now to be new A3 and the new 1 Series have been nothing but design tweaks or rather facelifts...it's quiet sad that people work so darn hard for their money but fail to apply the very same discipline they use to acquire it when they have to spend it....
agree kid voltron. I think that there is something mild about the styling of this! I always have loved volvo; I hope this is a success!!!!!
El nuevo integrante de la familia Volvo el V40
Couldn't have put it better myself. long live Volvo, and hopefully if they do it right we can have a proper alternative to the ever increasing boredom of Audi a3's and BMW 1 series
