If you hop over the break and take a close look at the 90 pictures of the European-specification 2012 Chevrolet Camaro Coupe and Convertible, you'll probably notice a few things that are different from the North American models - and no, we're not talking about the welcome presence of attractive women in some shots.
First and foremost, the Euro Camaro gets a redesigned pair of LED tail lamps. It's not only the addition of LED units that make them look different but also their shape, which kind of reminds us of sunglasses.
Those of you with flawless memory will remember seeing the revised tail lamps in our Nürburgring spy shots of the Camaro back in 2010.
Other differences include the diffuser-mounted reflectors at the back; the noticeably larger mirrors that look like someone pasted Dumbo's ears on the Camaro's doors (apparently, so you can detect those miniature ForTwos creeping up on you on the highway) and the more modern fonts on the instrument panel gauges that are placed outwards.
Take your time to compare the pictures of the Euro and North American Camaros and tell us what you think in the comments below.

The ass has always been the weakest part of the new Camaro design, and it just got weaker combining two separate lights into one was not the right move. The whole rear end of the car needs a redesigned to make it live up to the front-end and the profile. It should have the LED tail lights but with the dual design, and not just along the perimeter, fill the whole light box with LEDs, then it would look at least better.
And those gauges have got to go, can you say cheap and tacky? Both the European and the American are lame, but I suppose the European is the best of two very poor designs.
I love 'em, but my gearhead heart still belongs to a '67, not to mention the modern Mustang, both of which I'd pick in a second, fancy LEDs or not.
The Euro ones are better. It's 2012. Any step towards modern is a step in the right direction.
They need to paint the bottom half of the mirrors black to decrease the perceived size, as manufacturers are doing with many new cars now.
I dig the euro LED rear lamps, i would like to see them make there way ont the NA camaros in the future. Its odd that they have the euro spec camaro interior with the older highly criticized stearing wheel and the large font gauge cluster with the larger closely spaced mph read out. I would have thought it would get the revised interior found on the 2012 NA camaros. GM is a strange creature...
Designing two totally different types of body parts just to meet the street regulations in each area. What a stupid strategy.
A typical example of what Japanese and Germans manufacturers would NEVER do. No wonder GM loses so much money.
Why are they using the old pixelated style? Think Charger or new Mustang and I would have voted yes!
Oh!? I suppose marketing Right Hand and Left Hand vehicles is stupid too?
What is 'legal' and 'required' in one market may not be legal in another.
I prefer the North American model's tail lights but never mind that. Did anyone notice the sheer size of the mirrors on the European market's model? They're larger than my head! I seriously question whether you can see anything looking forward out of the side windows, especially if the driver's seat is set on its lowest setting.
No, Japanese automakers just design completely different cars for each market (see Euro Civic or Accord vs NA Civic or Accord/Euro Mazda6 vs NA Mazda6) Toyota goes one step further and sells the Camry and a version with a slightly revised(better looking) front/rear fascia and calls it Aurion. This is practice is pretty typical of same cars sold in different markets, just the Germans have seemed to find a way to hide or work around the different regs in a cleaner fashion than anyone else. Really what all the auto makers should be doing is trying to get all the first-world nations to amalgamate their region-specific rules to be the same (at least as far as safety is concerned - lighting will still need to suit the region) to cut down on differing parts and costs. Zero reason why crash safety standards should all be different....
Because of how close the poll is (at the moment of my comment 58% vs 42%) that they still make both versions. If there were a huge difference (which is clearly the american vs european design eternal fight between good looks and cheap) they could make just one version. But there is always room for everything
"I wear my sunglasses at night" this is what comes to my mind while looking the european version! It's like they have integrated two sunglasses at the rear
Erm... Euro Honda Civic and American Honda Civic are totally different cars, although the European Civic sedan is the same. Honda Jazz/Fit have different fronts and rears to meet local legislation. NA Passat is a totally different car from it's European counterparts whilst the Jetta had to be totally refitted in Europe to bring it up to the standard of it's elevated local price, ditto the Brazilian VW Fox. Many Toyotas are reskinned for non-Japanese markets as are Nissans; the Nissan Rogue is a heavily redesigned Nissan Quasqai (sp?!) from the UK. I could go on.
In short, Hajime, you are talking total bollocks...
The only thing I don't like of the european Camaro are the side mirrors.
Blow the tail lights 2012 and still no color screen, horrid dash.
fonts=european, tail=US
Look like sunglasses. Ray-bans anyone. As usual tacky.
Doh. Steering position has NOTHING to do with stupidity in making two different kinds of body types. Next time do your research before making silly comments.
Civics are aimed at totally different targets. Same with Passat. Jazz has identical mirrors and technically identical lights, unlike Camaro. JDM Toyotas, Nissans, etc are made to fit JDM compact segments, has nothing to do with legal issues.
Go on. I'll prove you which is talking bollocks and who knows much better.
I was told you are a Nissan shill.........
Takes tack to recognize tack.
They look like sun glasses.
Why euro version keep the old steering wheel ?
The rear view mirror are too much big !
Fill the US tail light could be enough... even better !
Both styles of tail-lights are ugly IMHO. At least GM is consistent!
"Two Different Kinds of Body Types"... ???
Your mother needs to let you out of the basement more, but she probably doesn't dare let you off your chain.
Your spitting into the wind FlossytheSheep, Hajime's elevator doesn't go all the way to the top.
That's a 'Like'. But the term is Amalgamated or amalgamation. 'Amalgamate' is the science of, process of, combining metals.
Here's more from last June...

These over-hyped backlights and OVERSIZED side-mirrors are awful - Yeah I tell you as an European guy, Americans have a better version!
So an automaker should take advantage of regulatory differences?
For instance, the red of a tailight can be used as a turn indicator in North America. Everywhere else it's illegal to do so and the colour amber must be used to indicate turns.
If you think that the Japanes and Germans haven't taken advantage of this fact and made differnce NA-spec tailights, you're an idiot.
Ah! In case someone was wondering, these Euro spec taillights were presented on the "Hot Wheels" Styled Camaro at the 2011 LA Auto Show... Aka long before this photo collection. Odd...
Who told 'cha?
Why you ex-basement?
Please don't make silly comments like 11 YEAR OLD PRE-TEEN. You turn smart people OFF. You American?
Change name to 3Deuce'under-the-basement'27.
Looks like a pair of cheap sunglasses!
Yuck on the tail lights. Ruins the proportions, but LED, sure, if done right.
I like north American tail but I prefer European mater cluster. They should be mixed up.
It doesn't look muscular enough. C'mon, not all people like bling.
looks like a pair of gaudy, new years eve sunglasses.
The European rear LED's look like a double take on Dame Edna.
need to redseingn the tail pipes
