The PSA Citroën-Peugeot may be facing some troubles in Europe due to the financial and budgetary crisis, but life goes on and Citroën is looking for ways to increase its sales with the presentation of new models in the mainstream categories.

After the introduction of the new generation of the C4 compact hatchback in 2010, the sub-premium DS4 last year and more recently, the Mitsubishi-based C4 Aircross, the French carmaker is now preparing another proposal for the popular C-segment, the C4 sedan.

This won’t be the first time Citroën offers a sedan body style of the C4. In fact, the previous generation continues to be available in many countries around the world including South America. However, this time, Citroën may also target Southern and Eastern European countries like Italy, Spain and Greece.

The prototype that our spy photographers captured testing in Northern Scandinavia was completely wrapped up providing little to no clues about the sedan’s styling.

Under the hood, however, you can expect to find the same petrol and diesel engines powering the hatchback models.
