This is the first official image of the new generation of the Kia Cee’d SW or Station Wagon that will be formally introduced alongside the five-door hatchback model of the series at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show on Tuesday.

Despite the lengthened rear end that adds some extra space to the boot, from what we can tell by looking at this single picture, the estate variant seems to retain the elegant lines of the hatchback model, with which it shares the same 2,650mm (104.3-in.) wheelbase.

While the South Korean automaker has not yet published full details, the two models will likely share the same engine lineup comprising up to five diesel and gasoline engines with improved fuel economy and CO2 figures over the outgoing Cee’d, along with a choice of six-speed manual and automatic transmissions.

The new Cee’d series will be built at Kia’s manufacturing plant in Zilina, Slovakia, with European sales to start before summer.
