Ford Shares New Photos and Video of B-MAX Small MPV

| |

Only hours before the B-MAX makes its first public appearance at the 2012 Geneva Auto Salon, Ford has published a new image gallery and some B-roll footage of its entry in the European small MPV segment.

The B-MAX measures just over 4 metres (158-in.) in length that makes it 110mm longer than the Fiesta five-door hatchback upon which it is based but 320mm shorter than the new C-MAX.

The highlight of the Ford's Opel Meriva rival is the unique door system that combines conventional, hinged front doors and rear sliding doors with the absence of a B-pillar.

The five-seater model launches in Europe with six engines, including the Blue Oval's new 1.0-liter turbocharged 3-cylinder Ecoboost petrol available in 99hp (100PS) and 118hp (120PS) versions.

Equipped with an Auto-Start-Stop system as standard, the 120PS EcoBoost petrol unit returns a combined fuel consumption of 4.9lt/100km (57.6mpg UK or 48.0mpg US) with CO2 emissions of 114g/km.

Other petrol engine options include the 89hp (90PS) 1.4-litre Duratec unit and the 104hp (105PS) 1.6-litre Duratec engine which is matched to a six-speed automatic transmission.

Those that prefer diesel engines there are two choices, a 94hp (95PS) 1.6-litre TDCi that returns a fuel consumption of 4.0lt/100km (70.6mpg UK or 58.8mpg US) with CO2 emissions of 104g/km, and a 74hp (75PS) 1.5-litre diesel that achieves CO2 emissions of 109g/km and fuel consumption of 4.1lt/100km (68.9mpg UK or 57.4mpg US).
