Continuing its world tour, the next stop for Mazda's Takeri Concept car that foretells the future for the next iteration of the Mazda6 is the United States and the 2012 New York Auto Show, where the sedan model will make its first appearance on North American soil.
The Takeri made its world debut at the 2011 Tokyo Auto Salon last December before Mazda took it over to Europe earlier this month at the 2012 Geneva Salon.
The mid-size model's sharp styling and athletic lines that embrace the company's new 'KODO' design language will heavily inspire the next Mazda6, which is expected to arrive in the market sometime next year.
It is also believed that the Takeri's new SKYACTIV-D 2.2-liter diesel engine that features an i-stop idling stop system and i-ELOOP, which is the world's first capacitor-based regenerative braking system that improves fuel economy by as much as 10 percent, will find its way under the hood of the next Mazda6, not only in Europe, but Japan and North America as well.

This design is so full of win. Folks that care about styling are going to have some good choices next year with this and the new Ford Fusion..
Mazda needs to just build this car AS IS. The little tweaks they do to mainstream it, will just make it more boring. Just build it, and they will come.
That's a fantastic looking concept. If the production model looks very similar and it is powered by the promising new Skyactiv engines then Mazda deserve a lot of praise for bringing a desirable looking saloon to the market.
With all the doom and gloom surrounding them at the moment:

I hope cars like this help them survive and prosper.
Oh man that looks so sexy! One of the best looking concepts today in my opinion. I really hope RWD and a Mazda Speed edition will be available.
This concept was already seen in North America at the Canadian International Auto Show in Toronto back in February !!
Victor, Mazda said it's making its North American debut in New York. I could be wrong, but I believe that Mazda showed the Shinari Concept at the CIAS.
TOO NICE....THEY WILL NEVER BUILD IT AS IS.
Looking like a Tesla.
I saw this concept at the Tokyo auto show and it was very very nice! The lines and proportions are very well done; as said, Mazda just need to build it as it is!
(I know they need bigger mirrors and perhaps simpler headlights, but I hope they keep the shapes)
Just add cup holders and you'll be golden golden.
