This is the refreshed 2013 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport, which those of you outside States will know it as the ASX or RVR, depending on your location, and it makes its world debut at this week’s New York Auto Show.

While the 2013 model brings some design and feature improvements, the most important news about the updated Outlander Sport is that beginning in July, it will be built the United States at the company’s manufacturing facility in Normal, Illinois.

Mitsubishi said that the factory will not only supply cars to dealers in the States, but in foreign markets as well, without providing further details.

You’ll have to pay close attention to the pictures to spot the differences on the outside as they are limited to the redesigned front bumper with new fog lamps and a tweaked grille, the restyled rear bumper, the black side sills that match the lower portions of the bumpers and the newly designed 18-inch alloy wheels that will be standard on all models.

Mitsubishi also added two new paint finishes, named White Pearl and Quick Silver.

Interior upgrades include a fresh assortment of fabric colors, chrome accent molding for the front doors and a new All Wheel Control (AWC) push button switch.

The Japanese automakers says it has revised the rear multi-link suspension to improved handling and ride comfort, while also re-calibrating the Outlander Sport’s Continuously-Variable Transmission (CVT) for better acceleration performance and smoother shift feeling.

The Outlander Sport continues to use a 2.0-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine producing 148bhp and 145 lb-ft of peak torque.
