In 2009, Audi released a 98-minute movie called “Truth in 24”. The film documented the team’s preparation for the 2008 Le Mans 24 Hour race, the difficulties it faced before and during the event, the fight against the faster Peugeots and the eventual win of car number 2, driven by Tom Kristensen, Allan McNish and Rinaldo “Dido” Capello.

Last Thursday, the sequel to that documentary named “Truth in 24 II” made its world premiere in Los Angeles.

This film is about last year’s Le Mans endurance race, in which Audi once again battled with the Peugeot 908s and came up on top, with Marcel Fässler, André Lotterer and Benoît Tréluyer sharing an R18 and scoring both pole position and Audi’s 10th victory at the La Sarthe.

Information as well as the trailer of the documentary, which will become available for download in May, can be viewed at www.truth-in-24.com.

A few thousand miles away from the red carpet and the city of angels, the DTM season opener took place this weekend at the Hockenheimring. It drew a crowd of 140,000 spectators, among them FIA president Jean Todt, two-time World Rally champion Walter Röhrl, former F1 drivers Jacky Ickx and Patrick Tambay and a lot of celebrities.

This premiere, however, didn’t go as well for the defending champions as the A5 coupe driven by Mattias Ekström trailed the Mercedes C-Class coupes of winner Gary Paffett and Jamie Green, who finished 4.7 seconds behind his team mate.

Paffett’s 18th DTM victory was the 166th in 343 races in the series, and the Hockenheim race result also marked the three-pointed star’s 100th 1-2 since 1988.
