Breaking: Possibly Lithium Battery-Related Explosion at GM's Warren Tech Facility Injures Two

|

In a developing story, an explosion at a lab facility on the campus of GM's Technical Center in Warren, which occurred at around 8:50 am Wednesday morning, has injured two people who were taken to the hospital for treatment.

City of Warren Fire Chief Dave Frederick told the Associated Press that he is not aware of the details about the extent of their injuries.

On GM's behalf, spokesman Mike Meyerand confirmed the explosion and said the only part of the tech facility that has been evacuated is where the battery lab is located.

Deputy Fire Chief Gary Wilkinson told CBS Detroit that the explosion was most likely related to a lithium battery and that the fire has been put out with firefighters now looking to clear and secure the building.
