Every once in a while, automakers introduce some sort of special edition, which most of the times translates to added extras at a friendly price, to renew interest in a particular model series. This holds true in the case of the new UK market Mazda2 Venture Edition.

Based on the five-door hatchback Tamura model, the Venture Edition is priced from £12,995 (OTR) and features additional items of equipment. On the outside, you’ll find 16-inch gunmetal alloy wheels, a sports styling kit, front fog lamps, privacy glass and a rear bumper sports trim.

Inside, on top of what you get with the Tamura, the Venture adds a Sanyo TomTom navigation system with a 5.8-inch touch screen, integrated Bluetooth hands-free kit, climate control air-conditioning and electric rear windows.

The Mazda2 Venture Edition is offered with the brand’s 1.3-litre MZR petrol engine that produces 83hp (84PS) and is linked to a manual gearbox accelerating the hatch to 62mph (100km/h) in 13.6 seconds, while returning 56.5mpg UK on the combined cycle with a CO2 emission rating of 115g/km.

Mazda said that only 1,500 examples of the special edition supermini will be produced for Britain.
