A man in Lower Saxony, Germany, is making headlines today in Europe and around the world after he smashed his 1995 Ferrari F512M (the last Testarossa) in a bid to avoid hitting a spiky hedgehog.

According to the police report, 53-year old businessman Joerg Daecher, was driving back home on Friday morning on a highway that goes through a forest in Eschershausen when he saw the small animal trying to cross the road.

Maybe it was the Easter spirit or Daecher’s love for animals, but rather than hitting the creature, the man swerved, lost control of the Italian supercar and ended up crashing into the steel barrier.

The German police said that neither Daecher nor the hedgehog were hurt but the Ferrari suffered extensive damages.
