Tony Stark Drives Acura NSX Roadster to The Avengers Red Carpet Premiere [Photos + Videos]

The world premiere of Marvel's big-budget The Avengers film at the El Capitan Theater in Hollywood on Wednesday gave us the chance to see Acura's NSX Roadster in real life as actor Robert Downey Jr., aka Tony Stark, drove the one-off concept model on the red carpet.

As noted in one of our previous articles, while the custom-made roadster's exterior looks closely follow the lines of the NSX Concept displayed at the Detroit Motor Show this past January, it's a whole different story under the skin as the car utilizes the platform as well as the interior of a first generation NSX.

The two-seater model isn’t the only Acura model to star in the film as specially converted MDX crossovers and TL sedans were used in the movie by S.H.I.E.L.D. agents.

Being an official sponsor of the film, in addition to Downey's arrival in the roadster, The Avengers stars Chris Evans (Captain America), Mark Ruffalo (The Hulk), Chris Hemsworth (Thor) and Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye) also arrived to the theater in a fleet of Acura models.

The new movie opens in theaters on Friday, May 4, 2012.

More photos as well as two videos from the event follow below.

Huge fan of the original NSX, but this next-generation NSX roadster concept is just plain goofy with its proportions and styling. The Audi R8 was so commanding its movie appearances, where as this NSX is wrong on so many levels.

Soon enough, that Acura duck beak will completely wrap around their cars.

Acura dropped the ball so hard as the official vehicle supplier for this movie, it's an embarrassment to them and their marketing team.

First, they didn't even have a supercar in their line-up for Tony to drive, so they hobble together this unfinished-looking prototype complete with carryover interior from 1990 for filming and red carpet duties.

Then they supply the superhero team with the feminine-looking MDX, then go about modifying it into a late -90's Jurassic Park The Lost World knock-off.

Such a shame, the R8 didn't have to try this hard.

When the NSX came out Honda was totally amazing in building GREAT cars and engines, today sadly I think it's nothing left of that spirit...
Still very good cars, BUT the fun factor and styling is to me,, gone...=(
