An alarming set of five videos showing a U.S. security contractor formerly known as Blackwater (the company has since changed its name to Academi) performing malicious acts on Iraqi roads are making the internet rounds.
The footage that dates back to 2006 was published online by Harper’s Magazine as part of a special feature in this month's edition titled "The Warrior Class: A golden age for the freelance soldier". The article by journalist Charles Glass is about the growth of private military and security contractors in the aftermath of September 11.
Inside he describes some of the scenes seen in the video footage and which show Blackwater mercenaries in SUVs and military vehicles running over a woman without turning back, shooting into traffic and crashing into cars in Iraq.
We'll have to warn you that some of the scenes in the videos that follow below are graphic.

There is no context around any of this but they sure as hell look no better than a gang of thugs.
I'm sure there are reasons for many of the actions in this video (they can't slow down for risk of car bombs and suicide bombers) but this is why they shouldn't be over there, and hostile tactics like this shouldn't be allowed in civilian areas.

Jalopnik too does sometimes discuss matters barely related to the automotive world. Sites do so because they feel something is so important, they'd like to spread the word about it even if it's no turbocharger and booth-babe related. I personaly think this bit of news is interesting and if it hadn't been posted here, I wouldn't have known about it. Apparently, all other commenters found it interesting.

Remember, Blackwater were exempt from murder trials unlike US soldiers. They literally had a license to kill. Because they were not military but instead private they were exempt from any military tribunals, and since they were in a foreign land they were exempt from American law, only the Iraqi legal system could have prosecuted them. Well, in that mayhem... what Iraqi legal system? So this meant they could kill anyone they wanted with impunity. No threat of prosecution ever! And add this to the mix. Would you choose as a career to be a mercenary? These guys did. Why would anyone choose to be a mercenary? I can't think of any other reason than for the trill of getting paid to kill. This is who is "fighting for us"! Is this what America has become?
And Americans keep wondering why the majoity of Moslems hate their guts?

And some Americans still wonder why they are generally hated? The problem is that these 'people' of Blackwater and similair organisations show no respect whatsoever towards the people of the countries they work in. And when videos like these leak, the rest of the world also starts having doubts about the intentions of the United States. Respect is something you have to earn, if you try to enforce it you'll end up with people disrespecting you.
