We will have to wait until next year to find out how the Concept Style Coupé (CSC) will look like in final production trim on the road, but eagle-eyed Carscoop reader Omar A. was alert and ready to snap a few shots when a prototype of the upcoming Mercedes-Benz CLA passed right by him on the busy streets of Dubai.

It is not uncommon for Mercedes-Benz to test upcoming models in the United Arab Emirates with our readers having scooped several models in the past such as the SLK roadster.

The CLA will be Mercedes-Benz’s first entry in the newly formed compact premium saloon segment, with rivals such as the upcoming Audi A3 Sedan and possibly a four-door version of the BMW 1-Series.

If the concept model’s dimensions are anything to go by and despite the fact that the CLA is designed to be Mercedes-Benz’s entry-level sedan model in terms of price, it will be slightly longer than the C-Class.

For its underpinnings, the CLA utilizes an elongated version of the new A-Class hatchback’s modular MFA platform. Not surprisingly, the engine range will be common for both models including a choice of turbocharged four-cylinder gasoline and diesel markets.

Positioned at the top of the range will be an AMG high-performance variant featuring a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with more than 320 horses and all-wheel drive.

Many thanks to Omar A. for the scoop!
