1,100HP Nissan GT-R vs. 950HP Porsche 911 Turbo

|

Even in completely stock form, the Nissan GT-R and the Porsche 911 Turbo are two of the finest and fastest production cars in the world, so understandably, when tuners are added into the mix, a race between these two models can get pretty interesting.

Making their appearance at a recent Moscow Unlimited 500+ drag race event, was a Nissan GT-R AMS Alpha 12 boosted to produce a whopping 1,100-horses and an equally heavily modified Porsche 911 Turbo Proto R911 with 950-horses kicking from the rear end.

The two sports cars raced each other in a one-mile (~1.6 kilometers) drag race, which you can enjoy for yourself in the video that follows below the jump.

Seldom have I seen worse reaction times during drag racers, I wonder if the sideline bets, I imagine are taking place before the race, are having some influence on how the drivers drive these cars.

Here it looks like the GT-R, which certainly isn't difficult to launch,  has one of the worst launches I've seen  by one of these Nissans, and even after the launch it doesn't look like he's at full throttle. Then later it looks like he drops the hammer to just barely taking the mile win.  Not easy to make taking a dive, and pulling out the win at the very end, look so close.

I suspect somebody had a lot of money bet on the GT-R winning the quarter-mile, and somebody else had a lot of money on the 911 winning the mile, and somebody else went home with a nice fat payday, a little lighter after he paid the Nissan driver.

The more of these races I see the less legitimate I think they are. Where are they taking place?
