We knew that Renault was going to show the Alpine A110-50 Concept at the Goodwood Festival of Speed (June 28 – July 1) but the French carmaker had another surprise up its sleeve for this outing as it brought along a camouflaged prototype of the upcoming 2013 Clio RenaultSport Mk4.

The test car competed in the famous hill-climb event with Renault’s Chief Operating Officer Carlos Tavares behind the wheel.

While the French carmaker did not reveal any specific details about the Clio 4 R.S., it said that it would debut the production model in a few months’ time.

It is believed that the new RS will swap the current model’s 197hp (200PS) 2.0-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine for a 1.6-liter turbocharged four-pot with a similar output.

We’ll remind you that the regular version of the next Clio supermini in five-door trim will make its online premiere on Tuesday, July 3, in advance of its first public outing at the Paris Motor Show in late September.

Kudos to Bruno for the tip!
