Over the past couple of weeks, Mazda has been teasing us with a string of videos outlining the shape and main characteristics of the brand-new Mazda6 (called Atenza in Japan), but now we can show the very first official image of the mid-size saloon, courtesy of the Japanese brand's Russian arm.
The single image reveals the Mazda6's dynamic-looking front end which keeps the curves and lines of the highly cited 2011 Takeri Concept - albeit toned down a notch (or two) for mainstream consumption.
We're still foggy on the details, but we do know that the new Mazda6 is the second vehicle in the brand's range after the CX-5 crossover to fully embrace the SKYACTIV TECHNOLOGY and which brings a lightweight modular platform and a suite of clean gasoline and, for the first time in North America, diesel engines as well.
The Japanese carmaker's Honda Accord, Ford Mondeo/Fusion and VW Passat challenger will debut at the Paris Motor Show in September and go on sale worldwide (as a 2014 model in North America) in early 2013.

Looks good.
ditto
i suspect this is going to be a cracking good car
Can't wait to see the rest of it. Now imagine how breathtaking the next gen Mazda 3 will be with Kodo.
i like!
Mazda, still all smiles...
Nice front end, unfortunately I live in a state that requires a front license plate.
Best in Class...easily! Kudos to Kodo!!
looks good
Here in Australia we have to have a front license plate. It will spoil the design.
First time I've been excited about the launch of a car in a while. I'm looking forward to seeing photos of the side and rear. I wonder if they'll also have an AWD variant like the CX-5?
At least it fixes or helps alleviate the Smiley Face issues some of the newer Mazda have been accustomed towards.
Friends, I found more photos of the new Mazda6 on the russian site http://www.5koleso.ru/. I think there are more detailed information on this site, but my russian is so bad to say exactly
http://www.5koleso.ru/news/2012/07/25/Mazda_sdelaet_dlya_rossiyan_iskluchenie_i_pokazhet_novuu_laquo_shesterku_raquo_v_avguste
Very nice but like all production versions of concept (other than the Toyota Urban Cruiser) it doesn't look as nice - to angular and agressive compared to the Takeri
Hopefully a Sport or Rally version a well.
Why are these first ever photos coming from a russian site? I don't get it. Was it leaked?
After translating the Russian page it says the Mazda6 will be shown in August at the forthcoming Moscow International Motor Show.
Her 42.8kgm diesel unit seems as exhilarating as the 38 medals from Japanese athletes in London olimpic!!
Just towering achievement. The vinegar-like smell of diesel fume would be totally abolished, I do hope!!
