Lamborghini Gallardo T-Bones Shelby GT500 that Continues Like Nothing Happened [Updated]

Whenever you compete in a race and as much as any driver would like to avoid it, there is always the possibility that something might go wrong and you end up leaving your vehicle in shambles.

Which is precisely what happened to a driver of what appears to be a fairly stock Lamborghini Gallardo during a recent racing event called 'Formula GT500 Copa' that took place in Medellin, the second largest city in the Republic of Colombia.

The Gallardo driver lost control of the high-powered Italian supercar, which started squirming like a snake on the road until it t-boned a Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 that was coming from behind.

And while the Lamborghini was quickly pronounced dead (or so to speak), the Shelby GT500 just continued in the race as if nothing really happened!

Hop over the jump to watch the videos.

Update: We discovered new footage of the accident including a video shot from a roof mounted camera on the Shelby GT500

I didn't know that Ford made an M1A2 Abrams version of the GT500.  That will be the 527th special edition that they've made for the Mustang.. ;-)

For a relatively low speed crash, the Lambo sure does make a big mess.  It's like the car is made of plasters and coke cans.

The GT500 barely flinched.

You have to expect these things to happen when you put high horsepower cars on a track, even if it is only a Show & Go. ... guys are going too race and shit will happen.

By the way 'Medellin' is a very beautiful, sophisticated city of about 3 million, in the hills of Columbia.  There are a lot of very nice cars there.  Probably, partly due to the Medellin drug cartel that once flourished in Medellin.
It is on the Pan America hwy in norther Columbia, just South of the Darien Gap.

this track is much to narrow and the savety precautions are crap.
those little poles would never stand a car, or lift it in the air, directly into the crowd...

Two dumbasses. One to dumb to drive - the other to stupid to brake and steer.

So awesome! The GT 500 driver has balls of steel to no brake pass. If only he didn't lift so slightly he might have made it by...but he might have also spun out from a hit on the rear.
