There's nothing like covering your eyes when there's a 10,000 pound (roughly 4.5 tons) automotive gorilla heading you way…
Still, laugh as you will, but the Chevrolet-branded monster truck that veered off course heading towards the two teen girls who had covered their eyes (we don't know if they did it out of fear or because of all the mud being thrown left and right) stopped right in front of them, avoiding the worse.

Very strange, I imagine those girls are related since they both reacted in exactly the same way, such a reaction is learned behavior, not instinctual. I'd say something they picked up from other women in their family, probably a matriarch that they look up to and emulate.
You are definitely doing a disservice to your daughters when you teach them to react to a crisis by covering their face and hoping for the best. No one would teach boys to react in such a way, sadly girls are always the recipients of such faux-feminine foolishness. Girls are still being taught that to be properly feminine and female is to be helpless and dependent upon men and being saved by males in such situations. In this particular instance inculcating such ideas into these young girls, which pretty apparently prevented them from reacting, might very well have gotten them killed if that truck had been going a little faster
I figured this was the US, somewhere in the South, and from the other videos posted by this person it seems to be Texas. And I'd say this is not unusual for Texas women, I've known a few. Seems that's how they like their women down there, helpless and dependent, seems that's what makes many male Texicans feel more masculine and comfortable around womenfolk.
in my opinion such things are exemplary of some of the worst remnants of America's past, which I'm unhappy to see are still being perpetuated down there in Dallas. Watching this video makes me feel very sorry for all the women in the Lone Star State.

I've been to this event its held in lake land FL behind the speedway.
They had there hands covering there faces way before the truck was ever close so they wouldn't be blinded by mud roost kicked up by the tires. As for track safety... trucks that powerful don't frequently visit unless there's a scheduled event also because there's bigger an better mud Parks in the area.
