Engineers continue to test the new generation of the Citroen C4 Picasso, a prototype of which was snapped on camera in Spain ahead of a sales launch early next year.

The car seen here is wearing heavy camouflage but it looks like the French firm’s designers have gone for a more hunkered down appearance and less egg-shaped silhouette than the current model.

The five-seat C4 Picasso with conventional doors revealed in the video will be followed up by a seven-seat Grand C4 Picasso variant with sliding rear doors and a longer rear overhang.

The powertrain lineup at launch will be shared with other models in the double chevron-badged range mirroring the options offered in the C4 hatchback such as 1.6-liter turbocharged petrols and 1.6-liter and 2.0-liter turbo diesels.

You can catch a glimpse of the new French compact minivan in the video that follows below.
