Honda and racing go hand-in-hand, or at least that’s what the Japanese carmaker would like you to believe.

To make a point about the association between its production cars and the race circuit, Honda released a video that documents the transformation of a stock 2012 Civic Si Coupe into a competition model for the Pirelli World Challenge or Grand Am series from its Compass360 Racing partner.

The Japanese company describes the process as being simple, though to be honest, it’s anything but that.

The conversion covers most aspects of the car, from the replacement of the stock 201hp 2.4-liter four-cylinder unit with a Honda Performance Racing engine producing 25 percent or more power, to the addition of a roll cage and changes to the chassis.
