Ford has premiered the first of five episodes of its new web video series dedicated to the 2013 Focus ST hot hatch titled "ST Sessions".
Following the one-minute teaser released back in mid-July, the first session shows the 252-horsepower Focus ST measuring up against its natural rivals, the 263hp MazdaSpeed3 and 265hp Subaru Impreza WRX hatchbacks, as well as the more expensive and much faster 414hp BMW M3 Coupe.
The Focus ST is shown overtaking the two hatchbacks but being passed by the M3, which leaves a track of imaginary '$' signs on the road as it disappears.
Naturally, driving fast has as much to do with the skills of the person behind the wheel as it does with the car itself, but that's another story for another time.
Ford has promised more automotive hoonery for the next episodes, which will feature several professional drivers like Top Gear USA's Tanner Foust and Vaughn Gittin Jr.
In the meantime, hop over the break to watch the first "ST Sessions" clip.

Man that M3 looks so evil on the snapshot just as if It's preying on the yellow turd with the crevice of a hood panel gap.
worst promotional video ever
RidiculousssssssssssssST............
for it what kills this ST is the sound of that exhaust, horribke noise!
who in their right mind would choose to buy a ford focus FWD car as a performance vehicle... a woman? ahhh now it makes sense. thanks ford.
I have no doubt the ST is a good car, but I hate it when things are contrived......just trying to see how dumb we are into believing what we watched, was what went down. Might not be marketing this to the non savvy car enthusiasts out there with this video which would see right through this, but still, it wasn't even close to being a true representation for how these cars perform together, so it's an ad for Ford that's not worth watching.
I would, now get back in your playpen.
lol, thanks for posting!
Can't wait to see wrx's eating these things alive!
Not a fan of FWD, especially for performance driving, but a friend recently showed up at The Farm with a Focus Platinum. Once we hosed the dust off, not a bad looking little rig.
The opportunity to drive it come with a need for more beer and To Kill Ya, so off we went. The road out to the tarmac is a steep uphill climb on a bumpy, rutted, rock and dirt trail of just over a mile, and the Focus handled that with an easy ride and no body torquing.
The paved county road down to the hiway is a Columbia Gorge classic, and is a virtually unknown by performance drivers. Tight and twisty(15 to 25 MPH corners), but nicely cambered with good pavement. The challenge..Brake eating steepness, it is like falling under control, with fantastic views all the down. Believe me, you don't want to blow a corner. Most cars do serious harm to their brakes just getting to the bottom with out pushing the limits.
My Miata eats this road up and I always push the limits, while reserving enough caution, not too collect a deer. The Focus did a very nice job handling this road _going down_ nice balance, turn in, and pretty good transitions. But coming back up the engine was always out of breath. The 250 HP 'ST' would help out with that condition, but in the end it would still be a FWD.
