Alfa Romeos stunning new 4C mid-engined sports car concept made its debut early last year at the Geneva Motor Show. While we’ve been back and forth with projected production dates, we now expect the 4C to be making its way into the Alfa lineup for 2014.

While no production specs have officially been released, we can expect a similar layout to the 2011 concept which came with Alfa’s new 1.75-liter, turbo inline four engine capable of 230bhp, a 0-60 mph (0-100 km/h) time of 4.5 seconds, and a top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h).

Prices are also expected to start somewhere near $55,000 (45,000 euros).

As we have seen so many times in the past, with any beautiful mid-engined sports car, chances are it will spawn a drop top version in the year or two after its arrival – the Ferrari 458 Spider and McLaren MP4-12C Spider are just two recent examples.

A news report from Autocar indicates that we could see the 4C Spider in the lineup as early as 2015, a year after the hard top production model goes live.

So far, Alfa has released very little on their upcoming new sports car, hard, or soft top. More details should emerge as production nears.
