Are These the First Official Photos of the 2013 Range Rover?

|

Land Rover hasn't exactly managed to keep the new 2013 Range Rover under wraps with spies even getting a few shots of the luxury SUV at its UK plant, but today, a pair of allegedly official photos have been making the internet rounds.

The two pictures made their way on various forums and sites including Ovalnews and Jalopnik, with one of the images appearing to be sourced from Auto Express, which has since removed the photo from the web post (though you can still see it here).

While we cannot vouch for the authenticity of the images just yet, what we see here seems to match the 2013 Range Rover prototype models spied over the past year or so.

The more modern looking replacement for Land Rover's top offering will use contemporary materials both for its body and underpinnings with an aluminum-intensive architecture helping it shed as much as 1,000 pounds (450kg) over the current model.

The new Range Rover will be offered with V6 and V8 diesels along with a V8 supercharged petrol and most likely, Jaguar-Land Rover's new supercharged V6. The company also plans to introduce a hybrid variant within the next couple of years.

Thanks for the tip Lloyd!

It doesn't look bad.
I mean, it's not as classy as the previous one mainly due to the "side part" of the headlights but apart from this and those hideous vents on the bumper...looks kinda good.

This is looking more and more like a Ford Flex. I bet it will look better in high quality images and in person.

OH DEAR ! A rather diluted take on the brand judging by these photos, looks like it was designed by an awkward teen from some trailer part in Detroit or Delhi than a person with any depth of feelings for the brand - guess we must wait for the real photos tho before passing judgement - we shall see .......

I can honestly say that the only thing in their mind while designing this was the Chinese market!

The wheel base is a complete joke for a land rover an this thing can never go offroad like it predecessors.
Range Rovers used to be luxury offroad vehicles, but this is just a luxury car and can be easily mistaken for a Ford Flex.

Yes the headlight does bring the overall design down.
The fact is it would have much suited the range rover sport better. Its too curved less rugged at the front.
2006-2012 will always be the best looking range rover design imo.

to tell you for your info, FORD was the one to copy on the Range Rover!! FLEX IS THE MOST UGLIEST CAR THAT FORD EVER BUILT!!! Don't compare a Flex to a Legend. I disagree...
