Together with Audi, Dutch automaker Donkervoort has just finished test work of their brand new D8 GTO before readying it for production.

Believe it or not, since 1978, Donkervoort has been credited with creating ultra-light, hand built sports cars. Their D8 GT model, which was originally introduced in 2008, was capable of a 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) time of only 3.6 seconds.

Their latest model, the D8 GTO, made its world debut at last year’s Geneva Motor show and is now closer to production. Aside from being interesting to look at, it comes with an Audi sourced 2.5-liter TFSI engine in two outputs, with 340bhp or 400bhp

From the base 340bhp, 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) can be dealt in only three seconds, and the D8 will continue on to a top speed of 158 mph (255 km/h).

Like previous models, Donkervoort says that only 25 of these special editions will be made, 19 of which have already been accounted for.
