What started out as a sweet ride quickly turned sour for a 20-year old youngster test-driving a white Ferrari California in the Russian city of Samara, which is situated in the southeastern part of the country.

The accident happened this past Sunday on August 12 when the unnamed man was trying out the Italian supercar with Swiss license plates, which may have been part of a promotional campaign judging by the “Marlboro Clear Taste” decals on the sides of the California.

At some point, he crashed into the protecting guardrails of a metro system.

“At the wheel of the car was a young man born in 1992. As he explained to employees DPS, who arrived on the scene, the car he was taken for a test drive,” said the chief of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs, Oksana Kuznetsova Samara, according to news site Telegraf. “The car itself belongs to one of Samara’s auto dealers,” he added.

The young driver said that the accident happened when a pedestrian suddenly walked into the road and he swerved twice to avoid a collision with both the pedestrian and another vehicle ending up in the guardrails.

Luckily, no one was injured in the incident, though the Ferrari did sustain damages.
