
It looks like AvtoVAZ engineers were way ahead of their time when developing the Lada Samara hatchback, as you can see in this enlightening video that shows an example of the three door model making use of its hood as an active aero brake to slow it down on the highway.
There are still some ergonomic glitches and visibility issues to work out but the system does what it sets out to do just fine.

After all, they've co-developed the engines with Porsche, and you can clearly see the heritage.
Pagani Huayra has a front air brake, it costs $ 300,000, Lada 2108 has the same front air brake, it costs $ 300. When there is no difference, why pay more?
