In response to success of their 2006 John Cooper Works GP, Mini went ahead and revealed to us in early May of this year the newest model to wear its GP moniker.

The 2012 edition of the John Cooper Works GP hatchback is heralded as the fastest production Mini ever made, producing 210bhp from the standard 1.6-liter engine.

It comes with a newly designed front splitter “that’s made to race,” a purpose-built carbon fiber rear wing, along with new pin striping accents and flat grey paint work.

Adjustable suspension, race-spec brakes, performance tires and a refreshed five-spoke wheel design make this new GP immediately recognizable from the standard JCW.

In this latest video, Head of Mini Design Anders Warming walks us through all the new design cues implemented in the GP that keep it similar enough to the instant classic from 2006 to entice enthusiasts’, but make it even more distinguished from the previous model.

From the aforementioned new aerodynamics, to updated paintwork, the fastest production Mini ever made is sure something Warming and the Mini design team are quite proud.
