Spy Shots: Think You Can Help us Identify this Mystery Sedan Model?

|

One of our associates stumbled upon a group of identical looking prototype sedans at the German Port of Hamburg on the river Elbe, and was able to snap several pictures of the parked cars.

The problem is that neither our spy photographer nor we were able to pinpoint with certainty the brand, let alone, the model of the car seen here.

Maybe it was because we ended up concentrating our thoughts on Chinese nameplates from BAIC to SAIC and everything in between, and missed out on a detail that could lead to an answer.

All test cars were dressed in a chequered-theme wrap with no evident logos and featured unfinished headlamps and fake taillights. We'd say that said model is a probably a C-segment saloon - think Skoda Octavia or Chevrolet Cruze, though we could be wrong.

If you hop over the break, you will find a full gallery of pictures of the mystery sedan. Once you check them out, head to the comments section to tell us what you think it is.

I just found out 奔腾 in English is FAW Besturn & B90 is a very good looking Chinese car .

Zack Baumel said... »August 08, 2012

Poster above who said FAW appears to be correct.  Look at the logo area in picture #6. . . then look at this link:
http://www.chinacartimes.com/2010/12/03/faw-to-revive-hong-qi-brand-with-five-new-sedans/
Apparently China's FAW had a brand called "hongqi" in the late 60's after breaking away from soviet suppliers. . . there are 5 models approved for production under the re-instated nameplate.  My guess is that this model is the 1.5 Ltr Hybrid.

Im not sure. Can some one tell me the real name

Charles James said... »August 09, 2012

Perhaps a Hyundai by the grille emblem holder but I'm sure that is a clever ploy by the real manufacturer to throw off the hounds. Then again, it could be a Chinese copy of an older Hyundai.

If you look at the tail laps and the front lamps they look like the ones on a Wv Jetta.
Also The Fog lights looks like the one on a Jetta and looks like in the same sice
The only thing is the grill, it doesn't look like the one on The jetta today.
